Hello everyone, today I will tell you something special. We will learn about photoshop tutorials for medium designer. In this tutorial, I will use some techniques in Photoshop. So, you must read carefully to get the best result.
Photoshop Tutorials for Medium
In this tutorial I will use clipping mask, pen tool for
select an object, magic wand tool for selecting same color on the object, and
any more. Allright, this is it.
First, you will need some pictures. In this photoshop
tutorial, I used the LED TV image and colibri bird picture. You can search the
pictures in Google Image. Okay, let’s begin.
Creating LED TV Effect
- Create a document in Photoshop with 1000 pixels of width and 700 pixels of height.
- Now, we will delete the background of LED TV image. Select Magic Wand Tool, and then click on LED TV layer. After that click on the background of LED TV. Now the selected area bordered by dotted line. Press delete and deselect the layer with Ctrl + D.
- Now, we will delete the display of LED TV. Use pen tool with paths mode to delete the screen. If you still confused to make a selection using pen tool, please read How To Create Selection Using Pen Tool. Press Ctrl + Enter and delete it, but don’t forget to deselect the layer. Now we get white screen LED TV.
Creating 3D effect
- It’s time to insert colibri picture to the document.
- You can set the colibri picture into good position. Make sure the position of colibri picture passed LED TV layer. We will use the wing and rear end of colibri to make 3D effect. So, the wing and rear end must pass the screen.
- Click on colibri layer, and make selection with pen tool. In this step I will use the bird only, so you should select the bird only. Press Ctrl + Enter for make a selection.
- Now, select Rectangular Marquee Tool, then press right click on the selection and choose Layer via copy.
- Now, make a selection like the screen of LED TV. Look at the picture for more detail.
- Create new layer, and then press Ctrl + Backspace. After that deselect the selection.
- Click on colibri layer, then choose Layer > Create Clipping Mask. Now we will see the 3D effect, but maybe the top layer doesn’t clean. Use blur tool to make better 3D effect.

learn about Adobe Photoshop. In this post, you will learn about photoshop tutorials
for beginners. Do you have ever make selection using pen tool in Photoshop? With
pen tool, we can make a selection to the selected image.
- Allright, now we will learn to make a selection using pen tool. First, open your Adobe Photoshop.
- Make a new document with 500 pixels of width and 350 pixels of height. For the background, use default background or white background.
- Import an image to the document. In this section, I will use Nicole’s Photo. But, you can use another image you like.
- You can see the photo was too big for the document. Transform the image with Edit > Free Transform or Ctrl + T. Tips: To make the best transform, click and drag in the corner of the image but make sure you are pressing Shift button.
- Don’t forget to Rasterize layer.
- After that, select pen tool. But, please choose Paths for pen mode. Look at the picture for detail.
- Now you can start to make a selection. Click on the border line of the image. Tips: To make curve line, you can click and hold the mouse and then move the mouse. Look at the picture for example.
- You must end you selection with click on first selection. It means that you must patch your first node with the end node.
- To make a selection, press Ctrl + Enter. Now your image was selected by dotted line.
- You can delete the useless part of the image. But, remember that the component in the dotted line is the selected component. To inverse the selection, you can go to Select > Inverse or Ctrl + Shift + I
- To deselect choose Select > Deselect or press Ctrl + D

Create Layer Mask in Photoshop
Using brush tool.
- First, open your Adobe Photoshop application. We use Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended version, but you can use the later version or earlier version of Adobe Photoshop.
- Create a new document, click on File > New. If you want to use shortcut, you can press Ctrl + N.
- There are some options on the new window. Fill the width with 500 pixels and for the height you can fill 350 pixels. I use white background for the canvas. Then click OK to create new document.
- Now, we will duplicate the background. Right click on background layer and then choose Duplicate Layer. You can use shortcut too with press Ctrl + J.
- In this step, I will import an image to the layer. You can choose your own image for your document. Allright, let’s begin to import an image into the layer. Click on File > Place. Browse your image and click OK. I used the picture from Madagascar 3.
- After importing an image, we will rasterize the image. Right click on Madagascar layer and then click Rasterize Layer.
- Now I will insert the picture of penguins in Madagascar. We can repeat the previous step to import the image and rasterize the layer.
- Now, we will create a layer mask from Penguins layer. Click on the penguins layer and then click add a layer mask in above.
- Choose hard brush tool to erase some part of penguin layer. Make sure the color of background is white and foreground is black.
- Brush some part of penguin layer. If you want to correct your brush, you can exchange the color of background and foreground or just press Ctrl + X.
- Now, we have been created layer mask effect in Photoshop. For better result, you should learn more time.
